Telescopic sticks for races

Telescopic sticks have the essential role of ensuring stability and balance for athletes, when venture out in races on longer tracks, on rough terrain, with slopes or steep segments, when athletes walk on slippery paths through forests or on hills.

If the training session or the race happens on a longer distance, if you look for means of saving your precious energy so that you can push through the fatigue. Telescopic sticks can support you in saving your energy and, above all, in protecting you legs and feet, your knees, back or hands from accidents or from pulling a muscle.

The balance that these telescopic sticks offer can help you maintain focus and coordinate the movements of your arms and legs more efficiently.

Shock-protection should be on of the functions of the telescopic sticks especially in order to reduce the shocks that the knees, hands, elbows and back are exposed to.

If athletes decide to have telescopic sticks on them, a rucksack should also be used, because it is possible to carry additional weight in it, because of the sticks. It is very clear that these sticks may be used during training sessions and mountain tracks and are even allowed in many competitions.

We recommend that you read the rules of the competition to find out if this kind of sticks is allowed, before signing up for the competition. The athletes consider telescopic sticks to be highly important and valuable, for several reasons. The most important reason is revealed by the fact that, by using them, athletes can withstand a greater number of training sessions or hikes. Before a competition of an official race, the availability and use of these telescopic sticks can bestow improved confidence upon athletes.

For instance, if athletes create a training strategy in which they decide that they need to go through a set number of practice sessions for a certain competition, than these telescopic sticks can become a strong ally in implementing the precursory steps as part of their personal strategy.

  1. very light – the lighter these telescopic sticks are, the easier they can be used during practice and races. Another important detail regarding weight is the fact that, the lighter they are, the easier it is to carry them, as, during races, athletes can only use them on specific segments. If these sticks are light, than they are easier to carry.
  2.  materials – it is recommended that these telescopic sticks are made of shock-proof materials, so that they withstand damage and impact during practice sessions and races and do not tear or brake. It is also recommended that the materials ale elastic, so that they do not bend uncontrollably, as a result of repeated movements.
  3. at least 2 telescopic sections and to be adjustable – it is recommended that the sticks are made of 2 or 3 adjustable telescopic sections because, on the one hand, these sticks need to be fit both for the person buying them, but also for colleagues or friends, who might have different heights. This function is important also because, during practice or races, it is possible that athletes encounter various land forms and might need to adapt the length of their telescopic sticks for efficient use. It is also recommended that the sections of the telescopic sticks are shock-proof, to prevent injuries of the hands or of the back.
  4. durable materials – the more durable the materials of their tips are, the better they will withstand shocks and the passage of time. This feature creates the possibility of using them for a longer period. It is recommended that the tips are fitted with circular or square corks, because there might be patches of mud or snow along the tracks, in which case the existence of a cork reduces the chances of the sticks getting stuck in the earth or in the snow.
  5. friction material – in order to prevent hand slipping during practice or races, it is recommended that the handles of the telescopic sticks are made of high friction materials. If these handles are made of high friction materials, the athletes’ ability to focus becomes optimal.
